Jack Alexander
Jack Alexander was born and educated in Edinburgh. He became interested in the Great War when he was about eight and spent much of his early life collecting both veterans and books on the subject. He has an unrivalled knowledge of Scotland’s part in the war and has led numerous tours and pilgrimages to the battlefields of France and Flanders. McCrae’s Battalion, which took nearly 15 years to research and write, is considered to be one of the finest histories of an infantry unit ever published. It remains in print after ten years and is available from most good bookshops – and online from Amazon.
