Crowdfunding for Memorial Bench for Lt Col Gary Tait MBE & Patricia Leroy, Maire of Contalmaison
McCraes Battalion Trusts annual pilgrimage to Contalmaison, on the Somme commemorates the 20,000 British soldiers who lost their lives on 1 July 1916, and especially the 16th Royal Scots (McCraes) who lost almost three-quarters of their strength that fateful morning.
However, this year immediately after our ceremony we will be unveiling a handsomely carved wooden bench in memory of Lt Col Gary Tait MBE and our friend Patricia Leroy, the former Maire of Contalmaison. Gary and Patricia died within weeks of each other in 2019.
The Trust would like to raise £2000 to cover the cost of the bench and its transportation to France and hope that you are able to support this cause by donating an amount of your own choosing.
Any and all surplus donations will be given to Cancer Research in Gary and Patricia’s name.
Update 25 February 2020: We achieved our funding target (and more) very quickly and have now opened a fundraising page where all donations go directly to Cancer Research. We will pass on all surplus donations to Cancer Research. If you wish to make a donation in Gary & Patricia’s names to Cancer Research then please visit our fundraising page at:
